Santosha Yoga was set up in 2005 by yoga teacher Andrea Kwiatkowski. She wanted to create a website that was friendly and interactive to the yoga community and offered something special , a way to interlink the yogic teachings that were so precious and how to live them in the modern world. Inspired by her yoga teachers Sharon Gannon and David Life the creators of the Jivamukti yoga method she came up with Santoshayoga.
The word Santosha is an ancient word in Sanskrit meaning contentment. Santosha Yoga is committed to providing the physical, mental and spiritual tools for well-being for all. Our mission is to inspire, connect, educate and inter-relate ancient philosophy with yoga in the world around us. Yoga asks –
How can we live a simple life which brings us an understanding of contentment?
How can we be satisfied in this modern, busy world, with it’s pressures and strains?
Santosha offers yogic teachings as a way to help answer these questions. Yoga by it’s very nature asks us to look deeper into things, to go to the root, to explore our unhappiness and to find a place of contentment within. To be conscious means to be aware at all times of how we are and who we are.
Santosha Yoga is dedicated to those living a more conscious and compassionate life so a percentage of profits from fundraising/ workshops and special events posted online continue to support charities and other causes that include:
Woodgreen Animal Shelters – a rescue home for animals in Cambridgeshire
Sue Ryder Hospice – a local hospice in Peterborough Cambridgeshire
R.S.P.C.A – an animal charity in the UK
The Dogs Trust
P.E.T.A – a charity that works to provide education and welfare for all animals
Guide Dogs for the Blind
Azahar – a foundation to teach yoga to war torn countries such as Cambodia
Everytime you support a Santosha Yoga event, workshops, you will be making a difference to these causes.
Lokah Samasta Sukhino Bhavantu – May all beings be happy and free!!!!
Thankyou for your continued support – Namaste
May you find peace and contentment within………
