Sanskrit is a feeling language , of readiness ,on the edge of something much more. The Upanishads , the Bhagavad gita and great texts mean nothing unless you have you own gita sutra within.

When you chant Sanskrit it has an effect on the mind it elevates your thoughts and steadies the mind. Even if the chant is wrong you still benefit just like an asana without alignment, you still benefit.
Sanskrit sounds are either:
•    forced
•    restrained
•    every letter has a mouth position
